A high delegation from the United Nations High Commission on Human Rights, Geneva was at the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator for a working visit. The visit took place on Wednesday 18th, December 2024, at the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator. The purpose of the visit, the head of the delegation, Mr. Nicolas disclosed, was to evaluate the situation of human rights in the North-West and South-West Region.
During the working session both institutions discussed the role of the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator in addressing human right in the South-West Region, the issuance of civil status documents, especially the birth certificate to internally displaced persons and relations between OPIC and the regional branch of the Cameroon National Human Rights Commission.
The UN high delegation left OPIC’s premises satisfied with the discussion. The head of the delegation lauded the creation of the institution, describing it as a government establishment closer to the people.
